Came across a few things I thought might interest folks. Some of these I found out about through other blogs I follow because that’s way easier than scouring the internet looking for things such as these:
- A pretty cool article on how people are finally understanding there is such a thing as healthy fat and that eating it neither makes you fat, nor causes your heart to explode.
- I haven’t made this yet, but for those of you who might be looking to make paleo sandwiches, look no further.
- A live feed of wild bears salmon fishing in Alaska. Pretty friggin’ sweet if you ask me.
- Stone Age Poison Pushes Back Dawn Of Ancient Civilization 20,000 Years. “The researchers also dated a lump of beeswax mixed with toxic resin that was likely used to haft, or attach, stone points to the shafts of arrows or spears. The beeswax dates to about 35,000 years ago, making it the oldest known example of beeswax being used as a tool.” Neat.
They mention that “almost nothing is known about what happened in Southern Africa between 40,000 and 20,000 years ago,” which is interesting to me when you consider this hypothesis of the interactions between humans and neanderthals which occurred around that time. I know South Africa isn’t the location that these supposed interactions are thought to have occurred (edit: wow, totally didn’t finish my thought earlier..), but the lack of archaeological evidence from that time period may have something to do with our neanderthal cousins. Perhaps they migrated down into South Africa and obliterated the unprepared human cultures that used to occupy that region. Although, there still ought to be some sort of evidence left behind even if that did happen. It’s entirely possible that we simply haven’t discovered existing archaeological artifacts to support this yet. Just throwing that out there.
I’ve still got another post on the way, but that’s all I got for now. I apologize if this thing seems to be getting off to a slow start, I didn’t fully realize how living really takes away from blog-writing time. And of course, this wouldn’t be a proper post without some music and a cool video to go with it.
That’s from Emancipator’s set from Camp Bisco which would have rocked my socks off had I been wearing any.
